What is MicroFUE?
MicroFUE is a refined version of the familiar FUE hair transplant. Follicles are usually taken from the back of the head, one by one, using a micro motor and very fine tips. They are then placed into the thinning or bald area in line with your natural growth direction.
There are no incisions or stitches. Only tiny dot-like marks remain, and these usually blend into the surrounding hair over time. The aim is a hairline that looks natural next to your existing hair.
A plan made for you
Every face and every hair type is different. Before we begin, we look at your hair, your donor area and your expectations together. The hairline is drawn to suit your features and is agreed with you first.
How many follicles can be placed depends on your donor capacity and the extent of your hair loss. That is why we give a personal assessment instead of a fixed number. Results vary from person to person.
Needle-free anaesthesia for a comfortable start
For many people, the numbing stage is the part they dread most. With needle-free anaesthesia, a pressure-based device delivers the anaesthetic under the skin without a syringe. It takes only a few minutes.
This can ease needle anxiety and make the start of the procedure more comfortable. Pain stays at a minimal level, although sensitivity differs between people. We decide together during your assessment whether it suits you.
Procedure day and recovery
The procedure takes about 6–8 hours, with breaks. Larger sessions may be split over two days. You go back to your hotel or home the same day.
Mild redness and scabbing are common in the first 3 days. Scabs fall off within 7–10 days. It is normal for the transplanted hairs to shed within 2–8 weeks; this is known as shock loss. New hair starts to appear between months 3 and 6, and the result settles at around 12 months.
In the first days, avoid heavy exercise, follow the washing instructions and stay out of direct sun. Smoking and alcohol can slow healing.
